when you need it...

Making appointments...

We have an appointment system so make sure to allow enough time in each visit for discussion, examination, planning and updating your records. Running on time is a team effort, we are usually on time but occasionally emergencies occur. If time is precious, phone ahead (07 3895 8055) to see if we are on time.

Home visits...

Please call the clinic by 10:30am if you need a home visit. This service is offered to our regular patients within a 2km radius who are to sick to come to the clinic.

Billing policy...

Dockside Clinic is a private billing medical centre. We charge for how much time is spent with the doctor, a fees list is available in reception. Payment is due at the time of the consultation. A discounted fee is offered for students, children and pensioners on 10, 15 and 20 minute consultations. DVA - veterans consultations are billed directly to the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Bulk billing...

Dockside Clinic is a private billing medical centre, consultations will be bulk billed for repeat prescriptions and for veterans affairs consultations only. A charge will be incurred if other health matters are attended to.

Telephone calls and telephone consultations...

Emergency calls are taken by the doctor, messages are taken for non-urgent matters. Patients can book telephone consultations for which there is a charge.

Repeat prescriptions...

A consultations is required for all repeat prescriptions, these consultations will be bulk billed. If other health matters are covered a charge will be made. Prescriptions cannot be renewed over the telephone.

DVA - veterans...

Holders of DVA cards consultations will be billed directly to the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Referrals...

A consultation in required for all ongoing and new referrals. Referrals cannot be backdated as this is against government regulations. For ethical reasons referrals cannot be given without a consultation.

Reminders...

Dockside Clinic has a reminder system for important health issues such as pap smears and immunisations. Please let us know if you do not want to be included in our reminder system.

Test results...

Normal test results may be given to patients by reception staff over the phone,  a consultation is required of an explanation of results is required.

Other services...

As Medicare payments do not cover any work done outside of a consultation, other services may be charged as necessary. This will always be discussed with you first.

Workcover...

Payment is required in full at the time of consultation. Workcover is only billed directly when the claim has been approved and a claim number is provided by the patient.

Employment, insurance and third party medical examinations...

Advance notice is needed for appointments regarding insurance or legal matters. These consultations are not covered by Medicare.

Privacy policy...

Our privacy policy brochure is available from reception. This outlines how this practice handles all matters concerning your medical records and privacy.

Suggestions and complaints...

Dockside Clinic strives to provide a caring and ethical practice, we welcome suggestions and are always available should you have a complaint. Complaints can also be addressed to the Health Rights Commission, ph: 07 3234 0272.
